The days are lengthening and spring is coming. Happy Out Forest School is preparing for another year of fun and learning under the protection of the trees. We will start our Saturday sessions on February 25th and we are looking forward to meeting our young friends again, sharing stories and reconnecting with one another and with our woodland habitat.
We are delighted to share the wonderful news that The Heritage Council has informed us of their generous support of Forest School again this year. Thanks to this support primary schools will be able to avail of a 6 week forest school programme at a reduced rate. The schools will pay for only one of the two specialists, The Heritage in Schools Scheme paying the balance. Schools are currently in contact with us and bookings are being made.
2022 was a very busy year for us. We ran 2 forest school sessions every Saturday during school terms and held camps during the holiday breaks. We welcomed class groups from Knockanean NS, Tieraneevin NS, Holy Family Senior NS, Holy Family Junior NS, CBS NS, Barefield NS and Scoil Chríost Rí NS as well as Ballyhoura Youth Group. Some of the schools above have been with us for two years now and we look forward to annual visits from them. The value of nature connection for young people is being recognised more year on year and we are very happy to be in a position to facilitate the development of this relationship with the natural world.
